I Am Error by Nathan Altice is one of the best books on the Famicom.

This Gaming Life by Jim Rossgnol is also very good and a little bit more personal but a very fine read! Mark JP Wolf also curated two books with scientific papers on videogames, The Videogame Theory Reader I and II, they are great. I also really enjoyed Half-real by Jesper Juul. Also really worth a read: Extra Lives: Why Video Games Matter by Tom Bissel!Īlso other good books are the more academia-oriented works of Mark JP Wolf, especially Before The Crash. A nice little book is Al Your Base Are Belong To Us by Harold Goldberg, though there are better alternatives like the two books mentioned before. Their books on US Gold and Ocean are great, especially if you are a home computer freak like meĪlso, The Ultimate History of Videogames by Steven Kent is a very good read. There are books, lot of them not official, on gameseries, development companies and so on. I especially enjoyed The Untold History of Japanese Game Developers I and II. Maybe some of the books Hardcore Gaming 101 put out?
